The riverbed |
During a visit to Boscastle I was looking at pools beside the river coloured vivid orange by seepage from the iron mineral in the surrounding rocks. This piece of work is 30" or so long and depicts the richness, irridesence and reflective qualities of the colour finding its way through rocks and pebbles into the river.

ARBORETUM - small work
Observation and photographs of the detail in bark formation, colour, pattern, and texture led me into these small pieces of work. The colours are taken directly from close up photos which reveal many varied and unexpected combinations.
I chose to include text into these which provided additional ideas for imagery and interpretation.
OLD STONE WALLS
The rich textural surfaces seen on old stone walls was my source of inspiration for these pieces. York City walls, Warwick Castle walls, Warkworth Castle walls all offered ideas and information for colour and detail.
Deposits, sediment, lichen, and erosion provided a wealth of material to develop into collage.
