MY WORK

My work is usually a response to something visual or tactile that catches my eye. It is about close up investigation, abstraction, colour and textural qualities.
My interpretation is created by fragmenting, assembling and collaging. I like to be experimental and inventive in the mixing and use of a wide range of media.
I hope to communicate to the viewer something of what inspired me through the image I produce.

RIVERBED

Close up of a section.
I used a combination of string, threads, stones, recycled embroidery, grit, sand, paint, inks, &  beads
 in this composition.

The riverbed
2015
During a visit to Boscastle I was looking at  pools beside the river coloured vivid orange by seepage from the iron mineral in the surrounding rocks. This piece of work is 30" or so long and depicts the richness, irridesence and reflective qualities of the colour finding its way through rocks and pebbles into the river.

'BUT AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE.........'

2015
Commissioned piece of work using donated small objects, quotations and colours as the requested starting point to create a very personalised image.
Flowers from old embroidered cloths were added to the painted and printed floral section.

RIVERSIDE

2015
Images of riverbeds with encroaching tree roots and vegetation was the starting point for two pieces of work on this theme.
